Portraits

On Tuesday I had another photography lesson with Katie. My two best friends Katherine and Lexie were my beautiful models. :) These are some of the pictures that I thought were pretty good. Hopefully I will get LightRoom soon so that I don't have to keep using stinky iPhoto to edit my photos.

Editing

Last Friday, Lexie's sister Katie gave me photography lessons again. This time she was just showing me how to edit with this program called LightRoom that I would LOOOVE to get. It makes everything so much easier!! Here are four of the pictures we edited with LightRoom. :)

Original (besides the tinting... I'm too lazy to upload it again:))

FLowers

My friend Lexie's older sister, Katie, has been giving me photography lessons for the past couple of weeks. Last friday we went to a flower nursery and Katie taught me a lot about depth of field and how to use aperture and shutter speed. I'd always heard about these things but never had a solid grasp on these basic fundamentals. These are just a few of the pictures I took last friday. :)

I'm A Published Artist!!

My friend Katherine introduced me to TeenInk (teenink.com) a while ago. I posted some of my pictures on the site so that I could try and get my photography out there in the world!! haha. So I posted some hoping there was a chance that I would be one of the lucky one's to get selected for my pictures to be in the magazine! You can't imagine how happy I was to receive a magazine in the mail and a letter saying "Congratulations Published Artist!!" (You see, I had subscribed for a free magazine so I could look at it to see if I wanted to subscribe or not, so I thought this was it.) But instead, it was actually the NEXT month's edition of the magazine with my picture in it!

Anyways... Here's a picture of my published work of art! It goes along with the poem to the left of it titled Memories. (I'm typing it out for those "old" eyes that can't strain that easily... oh boy... I'm gonna get it. ;)) I also included the original picture so you can see it a bit better, I had posted it in previous posts, but to just refresh those 'ol brain cells I posted it again! :D

p.s. You can click on the picture to enlarge it. :)

Memories

Photograph jumps unexpectedly
from the page
Bitter memory previously admired by
a younger version of
myself
Cried over in days
now regretted
Hidden needles act as daggers
Piercing what I thought was a healed abrasion
Drawing blood through bandages
Unwittingly applied
I flip the page
The image lingers for a moment
and eventually subsides
I continue on
relieved
But nonethesless on guard
Until, not surprisingly
You appear once more
This time not alone
Beside you sits a girl,
ignorant happiness
reflected in her eyes
How it was the day
before
my smiles turned to lies
I shudder
closing the book
Wincing at the pain
of my scars,
Ripped open to create a new wound

Kittens

These are the kittens Katherine's "cat" had about six-seven weeks ago? They were the cutest things alive! I was in love with them. But I mean who can't reject cute little kittens??? Unfortunately, all but one is left. :( The only one left is Jack Meower (From the show 24:)).

This one here is Waffle. He is, in everybody's opinion, the cutest one of the bunch. Sometimes you'll catch him with his eyes going in separate directions. So cute.

Little Nilla. She's been through a lot. She got lost outside one day because Katherine's garage was accidentally left open. This little girl was stranded while Katherine and her family looked for her for HOURS.

The loner of the bunch. Sasquash, or "Squashy" as we like to call her, likes to go off all alone and hide behind the couch or the tables. She's the fluffiest and biggest of them... hint the name Squashy.

This here is Jack Meower. Katherine and her family are still holding onto him until his new owners say they are ready for him. Luckily, they live right across the street.... I think, so hopefully we'll be able to see him regularly. On the downfall, however, little Jacky is only being taken to kill MICE!!!

Another picture of cute Waffle! Look at his eyes! And that forehead! I don't know why that's cute. Everything about him is just plain cute!

I think this one is Noah??? I don't know if they had a name for him picked out... But I swear this looks just like what my little Allie looked like when we got her. :)

FINALLY

After a month of not posting, I have finally posted. :) I have been busy, or too lazy, to update... so here are a couple of pics I have taken in my absence of blogging.

Katherine and I had a homemade spa day last weekend. If you are wondering what is on our faces... well, that is a strawberry mask. Squished and mushed strawberry chunks and juice. Delicious!
My mommy's pretty daisy... the only one.
The pretty roses in the garden
This was in Shiner, Texas at one of Daniel's tournament games.
I love this picture of Daniel with the other team at the pitchers mound discussing.
Winners of the tournament with their shiny trophies!!

Baseball game

Daniel had his second SACS baseball game today. They won 23 to 0. I'll probably make another post for the baseball game. I got a lot of good pictures of Daniel today. :) Guess he knows who's going to be his photographer when he makes it to the big leagues. :D
**Lexie, Can you tell I used lightroom? :)**

Zoo #2

The scariest animals in the zoo... Katherine....

Zoo #1

These are pretty much self-explanatory. Katherine and I went to the zoo today. It was so much fun. It was the perfect weather, not too sunny and not to cold. :) I'll probably have a second post of my favorites. I was able to get so many.
